The organisation of the Africa Cup of Nations in 2008 was attached to Ghana on July 8, 2004 by the committee excutif of Confédration African football meeting in Cairo. Voters had a choice between Ghana and Libya.
This latest disadvantage by the fact that two countries of the North Africa region had already hosted the last two ACN (Tunisia in 2004 and Egypt in 2006), did not respond to the weight ghanens who carried 9 votes against 3.
